ITI was founded in 1998 as an independent non-profit organization under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Greek Ministry of Development. Since March 2000, it is incorporated into the newly founded CERTH, as one of its five constituent research institutes. ITI is conducting research and development in the following areas: Informatics, Telematics and Telecommunications, especially in the fields of interactive transmission of 2D and 3D images, television educational technology, development and communication of interactive media and virtual reality systems and applications in education. Culture and the support of companies in the fields of informatics and telematics, communications, telesurveillance and networks technology.
